It’s not that I don’t feel a little feminine or have a little girly sense of self. I just find it hard to describe myself. It’s like telling someone I’m a giraffe.
For many of us, a label in our head that we use to describe ourselves is the only way we are able to describe ourselves. It’s just the way we are, and most of the time we just feel like it’s the only way we can describe ourselves. So when we use a pronoun, it is usually because we want to.
If you don’t feel like you can use a pronoun, you can always change it. The issue becomes one of self-awareness. While we are able to name our gender, we can never, ever really know ourselves. A label helps us feel like we are who or what we want to be. So even if we use a pronoun that means we identify as a woman, we still don’t know what that means.
A man is a man is a man. Not a woman, just a man. But not a man whose name is a man, just a man who is a man and a man who might be a man. It’s all a matter of self-awareness.
The problem is that when we use a pronoun, it can be used incorrectly. For example, I might use the word “man” as a gender-neutral pronoun, because I don’t think I am, but I still use it as a man. Sometimes we confuse male with male, but when we use the word “man” to refer to a male, we can be referring to a man who is or might be a male.
Like many other people, I sometimes use the word man for a man who might be a man, but when I hear a man whom I do not know, I get confused. I think I should be a man who is a man, but i dont know it, and i dont know what the correct pronoun to use is.
