In order to get a response from a person, you need to know what they stand for, which is usually their entire life. They may want to give you a different answer if you ask them, and they might not want you to ask it if you don’t understand what they stand for. You have to be prepared for any number of scenarios.
If you want your question to seem real, you have to ask it like you would in person. By asking it like it is a hypothetical question, you have less of a chance of giving the person the benefit of the doubt.

So you have to ask it in text because you are not going to get a definitive answer. Its okay to ask it in text though because its going to give you an opinion based question.
