I am a little conflicted on the whole “no commercials” rule. The commercials I do see in movies are usually so well done that the quality of the movie itself is not important. I want to see the movie, not the commercial. On the other hand, I also enjoy the commercials that are not so well done.
The commercials that I do see in movies mostly fall into two categories: The ones that are not as well done as the movie itself, and the ones that are really stupid. I don’t think that a rule banning commercial television isn’t a big deal. I think it is a big deal though because it puts a little more pressure on the studios to produce ads that are not only memorable, but which also work well as commercials.
Some of these are actually good, but the ones that bother me, that have a terrible sense of humor, and that are the worst are the ones that come up in films. The ones that are “commercials” and make money are the ones that are so bad, I’m embarrassed to call them “commercials.” So that’s why I’m here. I want to say a word to you about how not to use commercials as advertising.
The first rule of advertising is to not be a jerk. The second rule is to not be an ass, and the third rule is to not be a moron. You might not think of these things at the moment, but you’re going to be a moron if you think that a TV commercial is something that should be used in a TV commercial.
Not only that, but the fact that the message is not delivered to the viewer is not a good idea to begin with. The viewer is left wanting more, and is then less likely to watch the commercial at all. It’s like a message that’s being sent is not received. If the message was delivered, the viewer would be more likely to watch.
It’s also worth noting that the message is not delivered while the viewer is watching. The viewer is left not knowing what is being said, and so if the message wasn’t delivered at all, the commercial would not be effective.
